About

I’m an independent graphic designer and art director based in Copenhagen, working across visual identities, art direction, books and other forms of visual communication.

My work usually starts with trying to understand what is actually interesting about a project. From there, I look for a simple idea that can give the work a clear direction and hold things together across different formats.

I like design that is precise without feeling rigid, and simple without becoming anonymous. The process is often one of reducing, adjusting and testing until the idea feels clear enough to stand on its own.

I work closely with clients and collaborators throughout the process, and prefer an open dialogue where ideas can develop along the way.

I share the studio with Uffe, my office dog.

Working together

Where do we start?

A short conversation is a good place to begin. Tell me what you are working on, who it is for and what you would like to change. Any existing material, an idea of timing and a budget range are useful, but you do not need a finished brief to get in touch.

From there, we can work out what the project needs and agree on a scope before the design work starts.

How do you approach a project?

I start by looking for what is interesting and specific about your project. That gives us a clear idea to build on, rather than choosing a style first.

I develop, reduce and test that idea across the formats it needs to work in. The aim is a visual direction that feels distinct and makes sense as a whole.

What can you help with?

My work spans visual identities, art direction, books and catalogues, packaging and other forms of visual communication. A project might be a new identity, a publication or a focused addition to an existing brand.

We can discuss which parts are useful for you and what can be left out. The scope should follow the project.

What is it like to work together?

I prefer a direct, open dialogue. I explain the thinking behind the work, and your knowledge of your business is an important part of the process.

Before we begin, we agree on the stages, feedback points and practical responsibilities. Questions and concerns are welcome along the way; they help us make better decisions together.

What if I am not sure what I need yet?

That is a useful starting point too. You can bring a question, a challenge or something that is no longer working as well as it should.

We can look at what you already have and identify where design could help. You do not need to know the name of a particular service to begin the conversation.

What happens when the design is finished?

We agree on the files, formats and guidance you need as part of the project scope. The handover should help you and your collaborators use the work with confidence.

Where useful, a simple client page can bring approved logos, colour values, type information and download links together in one place.

What experience do you bring?

I am an independent graphic designer and art director based in Copenhagen. My portfolio includes work for clients such as MODU, Piola Pastificio, House of Finn Juhl and Det Kongelige Teater, across identity, art direction and editorial design.

The projects on this site offer a closer look at how that approach takes shape in different contexts.
